Dimmwatts truck

Back at it. I decided to ditch the original passenger box. I couldn't get it to fit quite right. I built this one the same height as the driver side for a touch of uniformity. I also got the booster and pedal installed. sorry for the blurry pics

I just bought this :) I have been looking at it on craigslist for months now and its been calling my name. I committed to it today. It turns out that I have met this guy before and bought some parts from him. Cool guy.

Focus Casey, focus. We need to see the truck Finished. :p

Do you want my wagon body too. Come get it.

Steve

Great Catch Casey. That Wagon looks to be in great shape. Now what are you gonna do with it? Pivnic

Man Casey you have been bitten bad by the Willys bug. I'm enjoying your progress on this build. Keep up the good work.

Too much time on Craigslist while you were sick? I have been watching that one too. He had a nice set of axles and stuff under it but took it apart to sell it. Good score.

How are you feeling? Fever and stuff gone?

Feeling good. Yes the fever is gone and all that's left is a slight cough. Im at about 98% right now and building my stamina back every day.

Yes, I am a squirrel, and I don't know what I'm going to do with it yet. My wagon was built quite a while ago and helped me develop my skills. There are some things I would do different today. Maybe this will end up a body swap like sparky, or maybe it will get its own new build. I have been itching for a few years to make a flip top roof.

Yesterday I did some welding on the passenger box.

super tight fit

That flip top idea or like a vanagon poptop crossed my mind when I was looking at my wagon's rusty roof. That would be a cool expedition rig.

Personally I am hoping you section it like your truck build. Then when I win the lottery, I can buy it from you.

Glad you are feeling better.

I dont think I would section a wagon. I did a rendering a while back and I didn't like it. It might be OK if it were slammed and sectioned, but not 4x4

x2 on the health.

Put me in line after Duane. You could start a small business grafting Willys bodies (truck and wagon) to TJ chassis... might be hard to clear a profit though.

This might be fun...I doubt I would ever take this on though. Its way way a lot of work. Chopped, sectioned, shortened, c pillar delete.

Wow it's even painted to match your TJ Rubiwagon. Very cool concept. Massive body project.

I know I keep posting images of what is essentially the same thing, so I will try and add some close ups and different angles...Some welding was done last night...

I see what you meant when you told me there wasn't enough room for a clutch and brake pedal. Everything looks like it is going to be very snug, including the booster to hood clearance.

Great progress. Hope you are still on the mend and not over doing it.

As always, looks great Casey.

This might be what has to happen to the red body

Willys wagon
wheelbase: 104"
width: 6 ft

c5 corvette
Wheelbase: 104.5
Width: 6'2"

Think the engine will have to be moved back still? Can't see where the firewall would be on the Corvette.

I'd imagine a decent reference point on the "vette would be the molding right behind the door. I'd bet that's about where your butt would be sitting. This is a build I'd like to see. I'm sure the motor would have to get moved back substantially. Would a Corvette be the best donor then? They don't really have a frame. Everything is more or less stuck where it's at I would think.......?

Corvettes are mid front engine cars. The engine is behind the front axle entirely. If anything, it would need to be moved forward.

Here is a guy that added a steel frame to a stock c5 driveline. The transmission is in the back behind the long aluminum torque tube.

I saw a TV build a few years back, they used the vette unibody as a template and built a chassis to go under a 50 something Chevy car. I recall they bought an aftermarket front frame section designed around a massive engine set back. Aaron Kaufman from Fast and Loud got pooh from fans for saying a Corvette C4 was only good for putting under other cars.

It would be a wild ride for sure.
