Sparky's '56 Wagon Build

Nice (and Lucky) Steve! Now the good stuff starts, putting it all back together! Will you make it to Moab? Pivnic

Thanks guys, I feel very blessed that I got it back so quick. Most paint shops seem to be giant black holes where time doesn't exist.
Looks great, Steve. Satin colors seems to fit a Willys. I've been thinking satin gray metallic for mine when I get there. Can't wait to see it put together.
I think that a satin grey would look great.

You bet I will be there. I built and installed just about everything before I disassembled it for paint so it should go back together fairly easy. Until I come across those items that I forgot about. It sounds like you got a fair amount of work to do to Floyd too. Its time to pick up the pace.

Well, here is a pic. I will post more soon. The body swap is done and now on to all new wiring both for the computer and for the chassis. Being done before Moab now seems more realistic.

My old green body needs a new home. I posted in the marketplace.

Your wagon looks great Steve, looking forward to seeing the finished product in Moab. Thanks again for lending your driveway and tools to fix the Suburban on our way through Vegas last night. It's all good, about three more hours and we'll be home.

Hi Steve. That Wagon of Yours looks so Dang Straight! That's a Beautiful Sight! Hope to see you in Moab. Floyd is coming together 'slowly'. Most of the "Big Stuff" is done. Just have a ton of "Small Stuff" to do. Pivnic

My assembly process is starting to feel like one of those TV shows where they tear down and build a SEMA worthy car in a week. Where there are a dozen guys running about with smiles on their faces. Magically on the 7th day the car is complete and the engine comes screaming to life. Where are those guys when you need them?! I will even give them an extra week.

Time is moving way faster than I am and the honey do list won't leave me alone. The good thing is that our pool and landscaping is complete and now maybe, just maybe I can focus all of my time on finishing my Wagon. Moab is less than a month away.

It's the end of day 3 of wiring. As we all know this is the most dreaded part of almost any project. I have a new chassis harness to install, I need to re-work my engine harness, I need to install the one touch power module for the cowl vent, wire up the power windows, wiring for the rear door latches and all of the offroad lighting.

It may look like a big bowl of worms trying to escape but there is a system to my madness. At this time the computer harness is complete except for shortening the O2 sensor wires and to route the transmission cooler fan wires. This is because I moved my PCM over to the drivers side kick panel forcing me to re-make a lot of the PCM harness so they would be the right length. The one touch cowl vent module needs to be connected and most of the chassis harness needs to be terminated. Hopefully only a couple more days and the wiring will be wrapped up.

Thank you very much. I may have to throw out a Hail Mary in the final hour.

I don't really know why I always seem to have a last minute Moab Thrash but once again I am knee deep in it. The days are long but I'm still feeling optimistic, as most things that is subject to change with out notice. I've told my dad and others "don't worry I won't make anymore changes". I'm just going to say sorry now, I made a few more changes. First is I made new fuel tank mounts so now it is suspended by the frame instead of the body and I relocated the battery to under the body near the rear axle. Ok, no more last minute modifications.

I decided that I needed a little more visibility so about a year ago I ran across this LED light strip that has stop, turn, brake and backup in it. With all of the crazy traffic that this town has I can use all of the light I can get. I'm sure that with as high as it is the backup lights won't illuminate much.

With this tunnel vision that I have been afflicted with lately I have failed you. I keep forgetting to take pictures. Sorry I will try to correct this lack of focus.

Those lights are cool! Do you have a maker or part number to pass on? Thanks. Pax

Keep it going! Dont change anything else unless its drivable! We need to see you there bud!!

Well I didn't make the deadline to have my Wagon ready for Moab not for a lack of trying. Here is a couple pic's of the progress made before Moab. Now that I'm back home I need to get back to work on the Wagon. Lots to do. I can't wait to have it back up and running.

Lots of little stuff to finish. How did it get so dirty so fast.

All of the wiring in the engine bay completed. Still need the A/C and heater hoses still.

I cut and formed in vents into the fenders to allow for extra cooling. I made theses to match the heater inlet on the grille.

I moved the battery back under the body just to clean up the engine bay.

Please update us on engine temps etc. once you drive it with the new vents on the fender panels. Curious as I am building around an LSX and plan to run to Phoenix often. Should I looking at letting some air flow?

Your ride is looking great. Can't wait to see it all together. ( and the Jeepster build to follow haha)

Thx

Duane
