John, there is a side view showing how the front wheel is centered under the fender.............It looked good to me. Look on page 7 for the pic

I decided to pull the trigger on a custom gauge today. It’s a little pricey but exactly what I need to interface the new electrical of the Chevy with the Willys. It also takes a month to get but will save me headaches in the end. I tried to keep it close to the original as I could but should mount right in the original hole nicely.

Yes. This gauge has the look and size of old gauge but hooks into my 94’s ECM. So yes.

Fitted the master cylinder, hydraulic clutch reservoir and steer wheel today. It was a lot of fabricating but it all fit

After it was all fitted we took everything back off and welded some fresh steel in to reinforce the firewall. Hopefully tomorrow I can do some reassembling.

Gary
You are making some serious progress with your project. The master cylinders look like they were meant to be there.
What is the narrow rectangular box between the fender well and the master cylinder?

It’s for the steering.

I choose the cheap route for my wiper motor assembly. It is mounted but haven’t tried it yet. I did a ton of research on this. It seems to be exactly the same as the more expensive ones other it doesn’t come with a video or even instructions. I printed off the instructions from the more pricey assemblies and every illustration was exactly the same as my assembly. The only thing I changed was used 3/8 steel brake line instead of the cheap aluminum line they sent with it. I had to take off defrost vents, glove box and gauge to install but it’s in with some colorful language. Tomorrow I can hopefully start reassembling everything. Pictures don’t do it justice.

That unit looks good. Price does not always translate to quality, heres hoping that unit turns out to be a good one. I have not had any wipers on my 47 dodge pickup for about 9 years I rely on rain X. There was only one time that it rained too hard to keep the windows clear with the Rain X.

Fingers crossed for you mate as so many people reported problems with the Chinese made copies of the SPW units. Noisy and wearing out quickly, so I steered away from them.

I actually got to run the wiper system today. Not that loud at all. Not sure if it’s because I used steel line instead of the cheap aluminum line they provided but very happy with it.

Got some of the wiring run today through the firewall. Kinda overwhelming but as I broke down each part of the harness, I was getting a better feeling about this. So far so good. Also permanently mounted pedals and master cylinder. It’s slowly coming together. Like the saying goes, how do you feed an elephant? One bite at a time. I’m seriously addicted to this build! Loving almost every minute of it!

Wow, that's a lot of wires...........but it looks like you have it under control. Will you have to shorten and splice any wires?
Happy to hear that the wipers are in and working.
Do you plan on using the under dash wiring too?

Yes I am using all the original wiring. I may have to extend a couple of wires but things are fitting pretty good so far. I have a wiring diagram for the gauge controls to help integrate the no gauges.

It’s been slow going lately. I got all brake lines run and reinforced the brake and clutch pedals. Was just about ready to bleed brakes and I broke a bleeder in the rear hub. Have to pick up a new cylinder tomorrow and replace it. I’m still moving forward but getting held up waiting for parts.

It takes just a much time (if not more) to do all the little things that most people will never notice as it does to do the obvious, like lift and swap a cab. You remind me that we also broke a bleeder in the hours after any parts stores were open. We tried drilling for an easy-out, etc. It wasn't budging.

Keep on keepin' on. Before you know it you'll be posting a video of driving that thing out of the garage. Enjoy the process!

' great fun catching up on your thread.
